IDF changes its story to fit new evidence

Germany has called for an urgent investigation into the killings of 15 Palestinian paramedics and rescue workers by Israeli soldiers in southern Gaza last month.

The Israeli military claimed at first the Palestinians were travelling in “suspicious vehicles” with their lights off at night, but verified video footage recovered from a phone found on one of the dead showed the vehicles had been travelling with lights flashing.

An IDF spokesman has since admitted the military’s initial account was “mistaken”.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said autopsies showed the victims died from gunshots to the upper body fired “with intent to kill”.

Germany is a close ally of Israel’s but the investigation it wants may never happen. War has returned to Gaza after a truncated ceasefire.

The strip’s Hamas-run health ministry said yesterday 56 Palestinians had been killed in the previous 24 hours, including a journalist (whom Israel claimed was a terrorist) killed in an Israeli strike on a tent in Khan Younis.

Benjamin Netanyahu met Trump in the White House yesterday – to talk about tariffs.
