On his first trip to Kyiv as prime minister, Keir Starmer signed a 100-year partnership pact with Ukraine. “We are with you not just today, for this year or the next but for 100 years – long after this terrible war is over and Ukraine is free and thriving once again,” Starmer told Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday.
The agreement covers economic aid, increased collaboration on maritime security and drone technology and support for healthcare.
Starmer stopped off in Warsaw where he met his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk.
The two leaders agreed to kickstart new defence and security negotiations to increase military collaboration, in order to “protect Europe from Russian aggression” disinformation and hybrid threats.
