Russia’s ministry of defence says it shot down 144 Ukrainian drones in the regions of Kursk, Bryansk and Moscow, in one of Kyiv’s largest drone attacks on Russia. One woman was killed and four people injured after a drone hit a residential building in Moscow yesterday, and three airports around the capital suspended 30 domestic and international flights. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia had to continue its war in Ukraine “to protect ourselves from such displays”. With Ukraine blocked from using long-range missiles to reach Russian military targets, drones have become a vital weapon for Kyiv. Ukraine’s army has started using fire-spewing “dragon drones” – low-flying drones dropping molten metal onto Russian-held positions in forests along the frontline, says CNN. So far this month, Russian strikes in Ukraine have killed dozens of civilians in Lviv, Poltava and Kharkiv.
