Dying for Sex is heartbreaking, hilarious and a gamechanger

Based on the eponymous true-life podcast about Molly Kochan, Dying for Sex tells the story of a 42-year-old woman with incurable breast cancer who leaves her husband to embark on a quest into her own sexuality.

The show is heartbreaking and hilarious – often in the same conversation.

Michelle Williams delivers a tour de force as Molly, who deals with her childhood trauma while searching for her first ever orgasm.

At the show’s core is her friendship with chaotic bestie Nikki (Jenny Slate), and their conversations are a firestorm of emotions.

It is not like other shows: the kink community emerges as the sane centre of this world, while the ‘good sense’ personified by tedious ex-husband Steve seems an entirely remote concept when dealing with the extremes of sex and death.

This visceral assault of a series, soundtracked by a beautifully irreverent monologue from Williams, is a Fleabag-style gamechanger.
