Aldi, ISS and Santander divide DEI policy between US and elsewhere

What do the supermarket Aldi, the advisory firm ISS and Santander bank have in common?

Not much, except that all three have recently rewritten their policies on diversity, equity and inclusion to vary by region.

In order to avoid unwanted attention from the Trump administration, companies are in some cases exempting US operations from global policies, or scrubbing acronyms like LGBTQ from US annual reports.

Other companies, like Accenture and Meta for example, have been less discerning, opting for the scrapping of diversity and inclusion goals globally.

Christoph Seibt, a partner at law firm Freshfields in Germany, told the WSJ there has been an “avalanche” of companies seeking advice on how to bridge the Atlantic gulf on DEI.
