A minor miracle in Toronto: an airliner flipped over on landing, lost a wing and skidded to a halt, injuring at least 18 people but killing no one.
It was a cold and snowy afternoon but the runway was dry and there were no crosswinds, officials said.
So while one mystery may be why the plane didn’t catch fire, another is why it flipped in the first place.
The twin-jet Bombardier CRJ-900 plane was en route from Minneapolis carrying 76 passengers and four crew when the accident happened.
Several passengers were taken to hospital but most simply walked out of the upside-down plane into the snow.
