Pushback begins against Trumps blizzard of orders

President Trump has been in office for ten days, “flooding the zone” with executive orders and commands, but activists, lawyers and judges are already pushing back.

A ban on transgender people serving in the military has been challenged in federal court by GLAD Law (a legal advocacy group) and the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

A 90-day pause on US humanitarian aid originally only had exemptions for emergency food programs and military aid to Israel and Egypt, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio has since agreed to keep spending money on life-saving medicine, medical services, food, shelter and subsistence assistance.

A memo ordering a temporary pause on all federal financial aid on Monday was followed by a clarification on Tuesday that it only applied to “financial assistance for foreign aid, nongovernmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the green new deal”.
