Robert Kennedy Jr, whose confirmation hearing as President Trump’s nominee for US health and human services secretary starts today, is “addicted to attention and power”, “preys on the desperation of parents of sick children” and since his father’s assassination has “gone on to misrepresent, lie, and cheat his way through life”.
This is the verdict of his cousin, Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of President Kennedy and former US ambassador to Australia.
She released an extraordinary letter last night intended to derail or at least delay RFK Jr’s nomination because, she writes, “he lacks any relevant government, financial, management or medical experience”.
The same or similar could be said of Pete Hegseth, confirmed last week as US defence secretary, except that RFK Jr has actively endangered lives by campaigning against the routine vaccination of children as a pillar of responsible public health policy.
