Joe Biden had a busy final week as US president.
He helped bring about a ceasefire in Gaza; extended temporary protection status for 900,000 immigrants from El Salvador, Ukraine, Venezuela and Sudan; removed Cuba from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism; and commuted the sentences of 2,500 non-violent drug offenders.
Biden’s parting address nodded to a legacy he will hope to have cemented in his last days in office. “It will take time to feel the full impact of all we’ve done together,” he said. “But the seeds are planted, and they’ll grow and they’ll bloom for decades to come.”
Trump said he would repeal “every radical and foolish executive order” of the Biden administration as soon as he took office.
