Four more women have accused Neil Gaiman of sexual misconduct in an article for New York Magazine.
The story follows reporting on Gaiman by Tortoise, beginning in July 2024, and brings the total number of women who have alleged abuse by the author to nine.
Representatives for Gaiman told the magazine he had engaged in consensual encounters with the eight women it spoke to, and the author has since posted a lengthy statement on his website saying he was “far from a perfect person” but had never engaged in non-consensual sex.
At least two women who have accused him of sexual assault have broken non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to speak out about the alleged abuse.
One claims he assaulted her in an outdoor bathtub within hours of meeting her – when she was 22 and he was 61 – and went on to have rough and degrading sex with her over the course of three weeks.
Another was made to sign a non-disclosure agreement by Gaiman in return for a $275,000 payment to help her cope with post-traumatic stress and depression following their sexual relationship.
A police report accusing Gaiman of a sexual assault was made in New Zealand in January 2023, but the investigation was eventually dropped.
