Echoes of UnitedHealthcare CEO murder prompts terrorism charge

A US woman was arrested last week following a call with an insurance provider during which she repeated the phrase used by the suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Brianna Boston was charged with threatening to conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism. She allegedly told a BlueCross BlueShield employee: “Delay, deny, depose – you people are next,” during a phone call about a rejected medical insurance claim.

Those words were etched on bullet casings found at the scene of Thompson’s murder, an apparent reference to Delay, Deny, Defend, a book on tactics insurance companies use to deny claims.

The book is currently third on the US Amazon non-fiction bestseller list. Boston is awaiting trial in jail after her bail was set at $100,000. She faces up to 15 years in prison.
