Elon Musk’s political investment yields huge returns

Elon Musk donated $120 million to the Trump campaign, which made him one of the president-elect’s biggest backers.

The day after Trump’s victory, Musk’s net worth increased by $26 billion.

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimated that the world’s 10 richest people gained nearly $64 billion on Wednesday, mainly from stock surges; beneficiaries include Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who easily earned back his donation to the Kamala Harris campaign, and Jeff Bezos.

The Amazon chief’s $7 billion bump amounts to $28,000 for each subscriber lost by his paper, the Washington Post, when he told the editorial board not to endorse a presidential candidate.
