Musk turns the US election race into a big money giveaway

Elon Musk is handing out $1 million a day to a registered voter in Pennsylvania, the latest move in the tech mogul’s efforts to return Donald Trump to the White House. Each day’s winner is selected from voters who sign a petition by Musk’s America Pac to support “free speech and the right to bear arms”. Pennsylvania registrants already get $100 for signing the petition, which involves handing over their email address and physical address. America Pac is reportedly leading Trump’s voter turnout operations in battleground states, with Musk donating $75 million to the political action committee in three months. But this outsourcing is a gamble on Trump’s part: around a quarter of door knocks in Nevada and Arizona done by America Pac canvassers have been flagged as potentially fraudulent. Musk has also helped fund another Pac, Future Coalition, which is reportedly microtargeting Muslim and Jewish voters with contrasting messages. Any way you cut it, a Trump win in November runs through Musk.
