“Watch me.” So said 21-year-old swimmer Faye Rogers when she was told by a consultant she would never swim competitively again following a car accident in 2021. Having swum at the Great Britain Olympic swimmings trials as an 18-year-old, the crash left her with several arm fractures and she now has a fused elbow. Not deterred from competing at the highest level, she has taken para-swimming by storm, winning gold in the S10 100m butterfly at the 2023 World Para Swimming Championship and setting a European record in the process. Should she get through the heats this morning, the final will be at 7.35pm this evening.
