Revenues for consultants dip as US and UK governments cut contracts

Just this once, spare a thought for the management consultants.

On both sides of the Atlantic governments have embarked on a purge of external expertise.

Elon Musk has told the top ten US consultancies they have until today to justify billions of dollars of ongoing projects for the federal government.

One of them, Booz Allen Hamilton, gets 98 per cent of its annual revenue from federal contracts.

The UK government has also introduced controls on consultancy spending.

Growth in the industry is slowing – revenue expansion in the UK market is expected to slow to its lowest rate since 2020.

The business that made a cult of disruption appears to be getting a taste of its own medicine.
