Donald Trump Jr’s venture fund is leading a raise for the “Enhanced Games”, a proposed sports event that allows athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs.
Plans for the pharmaceutical free-for-all, dubbed the “steroid Olympics”, are slated for 2025 and have also received the backing of Peter Thiel, another investor close to the White House.
Aron D’Souza, the founder of Enhanced Games, claims that they are a chance to “overcome the weakness of our feeble biological forms” and “actually be the best”.
A host city or date has not been decided and only one professional athlete has publicly signed up: the retired Australian Olympic swimmer James Magnussen.
The chief executive of the US Anti-Doping Agency has called it “a dangerous clown show”.
