Robert F Kennedy Jr, a vaccine sceptic and Donald Trump’s pick for health secretary, has railed repeatedly against processed food and vowed to take on Big Food Inc. to make the nation healthier.
Last week he described his new boss’s diet as “really, like, bad”, telling a podcaster that the food options on board Trump’s plane were “just poison”.
Enter a photograph over the weekend showing Kennedy sitting with Trump, Elon Musk and Donald Trump Jr in front of a table-full of McDonald’s meals and a Coca-Cola.
Kennedy’s awkward smile is partly why the image, posted by Margo Martin, Trump’s deputy director of communications, went viral – as of Monday night it had been viewed more than 30 million times.
Another part is the suspicion that this was a test of loyalty. Trump Jr captioned the image “Make America Healthy Again starts TOMORROW.”
