Olivia Nuzzi leaves New York magazine over RFK Jr relationship

Olivia Nuzzi, a 31-year-old American political journalist, has left her job as New York magazine’s star Washington correspondent. For the past month, Nuzzi has been on leave from the publication as it reviewed her work, after another journalist, Oliver Darcy, reported she had engaged in an intimate (though, she’s insisted, “non-physical”) relationship with the subject of a magazine cover story she’d written in 2023: the then-presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The magazine’s review uncovered no inaccuracies or evidence of bias in Nuzzi’s work, but the relationship revelation turned into a wider journalistic scandal because of the perceived conflict of interest. Nuzzi is also locked in a legal dispute with Ryan Lizza, chief Washington correspondent at Politico and her ex-fiancé. Nuzzi claims Lizza blackmailed her after finding out about her relationship with RFK, Jr (he denies the claim).
