I hope the incoming government realises how vital the UK fashion sector could be for Brand Britain, not just as a creative and cultural world leader – with brands like Burberry and McQueen – but as leaders commercially too. The next government will be stepping up at a critical juncture for UK fashion businesses. The retail landscape is in a state of flux, with new international markets emerging that UK designers must tap into. The EU has also recently implemented significant sustainability regulations, adding to the complexity. All of these challenges underscore the urgent need for the Government to enable British businesses to thrive. The British Fashion Council has identified five priorities for an incoming government to support #FashionsFuture. We look forward to working in partnership with the new government to deliver opportunity, growth and employment in this crucial creative sector.
