Conventional wisdom says Nigel Farage is doing well on TikTok. The Reform leader has 790,000 followers on the platform as well as 14 million likes, mainly generated by provocative straight-to-camera videos with titles like “Shooting is Fun”. Until recently, Reform was also the most successful UK political party on the app. Does that mean that Reform’s anti-immigration policies are gaining traction among the millions of British Gen Zers who use the platform? Not so fast. A poll published at the weekend in the Guardian found that TikTok users were 31 per cent more likely to vote for Labour than people of the same age and background who didn’t use the video app. As one Labour campaign source told the paper: “Almost everyone on TikTok is already on our side.”
