Stuart Rose: I hope for a Britain that can look itself in the mirror

I hope we elect those we believe most capable. This is the most important election since 1979. Forty years on, Britain faces many of the same problems as in the ‘70s – low growth, low investment and poor leadership. Tough enough problems for any government. Add to this ten years of in-fighting about Brexit – and even poorer leadership. Add climate change, war and immigration and we all have reason to stop and think hard about who we want to lead us out of the current crisis. To vote is a precious right. Thinking unselfishly about the Britain we can help create today for those who will follow us must be top of the agenda. Times change. I hope for a Britain of tomorrow which continues to stand for compassion, common sense, liberal views, decency and pride. A prosperous and growing Britain, and a Britain that can look itself in the mirror and be content with what it sees.
