In the row over Labour’s choice of candidates – and those who have been blocked – one name has received little attention but is worthy of more. Georgia Gould, daughter of Tony Blair’s strategist Philip Gould and the publishing titan Gail Rebuck, has been selected to stand in the safe seat of Queens Park and Maida Vale. Gould comes from Labour royalty but as leader of Camden Council and chair of the London Councils she is not your average nepo baby. Shrewd, talented and hard-working, she’s impressed council colleagues and the wider Labour world. She may also be one of the few big female names to break into the boys’ club around Keir Starmer: she’s being talked about as a future cabinet minister.
