Judge raises “serious concerns” about treatment by Gender GP for young trans people

A senior UK judge has warned against accessing gender dysphoria treatment online after a teenager was prescribed “dangerously high” levels of testosterone. Sir Andrew McFarlane, president of the High Court’s family division, said there were “serious concerns” about the safety of patients accessing cross-hormone treatment from Gender GP, a private online gender clinic. McFarlane also warned other courts “to proceed with extreme caution” before approving or endorsing treatment prescribed by Gender GP. An independent medical expert told the court that the clinic’s approach was “highly abnormal and frankly negligent” and that the teenager, identified only as J, was potentially “at risk of sudden death”. Gender GP was approached for comment.
