UK judge throws out case against climate activist

Last year Trudi Warner, 69, stood outside a London court for 30 minutes holding a placard on jury rights. Specifically, her sign informed jurors of their right to acquit a defendant based on their conscience. A judge on Monday found that Warner had not harassed or even talked to anyone entering the court at the start of a climate trial for Insulate Britain protesters. But the UK’s attorney general pursued Warner for contempt of court, claiming she had acted in an intimidating manner. In yesterday’s ruling, Justice Saini threw out the attempt, accusing government lawyers of “mischaracterising” the evidence, the Guardian reported. Warner, who waited a year to find out if she would be prosecuted, said she felt “very relieved”. “I feel it is job done,” she said.
