Donald Trump’s critics will have to wait a little longer before New York’s attorney general has a chance of slapping a padlock on Trump Tower. An appeals court said on Monday the former president could put up a bond for $175 million while he appeals a half-billion-dollar civil fraud ruling, as a deadline arrived for Trump to put up the full amount or face his properties being seized. The five appeal judges also agreed to delay other penalties, including a ban on Trump and his elder sons running a business in the state. The NYT reported that Trump should be able to secure the smaller bond within the 10-day limit. It was an unexpected reprieve, although Trump couldn’t celebrate immediately – within an hour another New York judge set a 15 April date for his first criminal trial, relating to alleged hush money payments to a porn star.
