Supermarkets by party

UK shoppers form political tribes

Autumn Statement day is never fun for the opposition, but here’s a silver lining for Labour: the party has stolen a lead over the Conservatives among Waitrose shoppers. Polling by the British Election Study carried out in May this year also shows a Labour landslide at Aldi and that Conservative support is highest and growing among those who shop at M&S. As for the question of whether the UK should rejoin the EU, support was highest among those who shop Co-op, at 78 per cent, while shoppers at Iceland were most keen to stay out or vote for the Reform party. Clearly Labour will need to find other ways of reaching across the aisle if it wants to win big in 2024.
