America will reportedly allow allies Denmark and the Netherlands to send US-made F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine once pilot training is completed. Antony Blinken, America’s secretary of state, said in a letter seen by Reuters that the US gives its “full support” to the transfer of F-16s and the training of Ukrainian pilots. But the training requirement means the jets are unlikely to arrive for months. On Wednesday Yuriy Ihnat, a Ukrainian air force spokesman, said they did not expect to receive F-16 aircraft this autumn and winter to assist in the ongoing counter-offensive against Russian forces. “We had big hopes for this plane,” he said.
