Each year, the Sheila McKechnie Foundation Campaigner Awards celebrates the best campaigns and campaigners in the UK. They look for those who have made change happen most effectively, creatively and courageously.
This year’s shortlist includes incredible individuals, determined groups, innovative charities, and unusual coalitions. They have campaigned on everything from sign language to social media, and from clean air to contraception. Small and local, big and national — it’s all here.

The Tortoise Community Network
At Tortoise we do journalism differently. Our Community Network enables thousands of people join us for free as fully-funded Tortoise members. Members form the core of our reporting. They come to our meetings, tell us what they think and what they know — and improve the stories we cover.
Dozens of non-profit organisations and charities have joined us, sharing their knowledge of working at grassroots level in areas like education, health and inequality. They introduce us to the people they work with, whose voices too often go unheard.
