2022 has been defined by crises and mounting challenges. An energy shock, rising inflation and an era of great power rivalries, where the relationship between China, the US and Europe is increasingly fraught. Our major global and financial institutions – the G20, The World Bank and the IMF – are tasked with ensuring global prosperity and stability, but progress seems to flounder.
This ThinkIn will pose the challenge of imagining a ‘new internationalism’. How could we rethink our institutions to properly engage with systemic crises? What financial and foreign policy innovations can we draw on to build a more resilient world? What practically can be done in 2023 to build towards a world that works for everyone?
This session is part of the ONE Talks series, held in partnership with Tortoise. ONE is an organisation dedicated to ending extreme poverty and preventable disease. ONE Talks looks at today’s global challenges and seeks new approaches to how we solve them. It convenes experts, activists, and people with lived experience to give insights, pose challenges to those in power, and help construct the best way forward to build a fairer world for all.
