This event is exclusive to Friends of Tortoise
Join us for an hour of live ‘breaditation’. Whether it’s the daily ritual of feeding the starter, the rhythmic kneading of the dough or just the delicious smell, baking bread has brought solace and calm to many people who, before lockdown, would scarcely set foot in a kitchen let alone attempt to bake in one. Over the course of the hour, we’ll bake a sourdough using ancient grains and reflect on what baking bread can tell us. We’ll explore what needs to change in the way we live and eat, and how the seemingly simple act of baking can be one of powerful resistance.
