If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a vineyard, let this be a lesson to you. Seven years after filing for divorce, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are (still) having une querelle over ownership of Chateau Miraval, home of the “Most Desirable Provence Rosé Wine in the World”. What started as a magical family home conveniently located just up la rue from Cannes soon turned into a nightmare for Brangelina. According to Vanity Fair, Ange offered to sell her half of the business to Brad for $54.5 million in 2021. But when Pitt asked her to sign an agreement prohibiting her from “discussing outside of court any of [his] personal conduct toward her or the family” Jolie refused to sign, calling it an “unconscionable gag order.” Team Brad insists the NDA was only a precaution to protect “the value of the asset after being paid for it,” but Angelina walked away from the deal and sold her share instead to Russian-backed vodka producer Stoli Group for $67 million. Multiple subsequent legal retaliations between Pitt and Stoli wound up with what amounts to a raid on Miraval in March this year. The seized documents remain – unopened – in a French court house. Quel dommage.
