by Alison Goldfrapp (BMG, out now)
Festival season is almost upon us and with it, the pre-summer albums, made for soaring over sunny fields. Alison Goldfrapp – also of indie-electronic synth-pop duo Goldfrapp – nails that arms-in-the-air spirit in her solo debut album Love Intention. Producers Richard X and James Greenwood (aka Ghost Culture) have brought new nuance to her signature whispered vocals which have always blended effortlessly well with floor-filling synths. So Hard So Hot, which Goldfrapp says she wrote during last summer’s “crazy scary” heatwave and Fever (This Is the Real Thing) are particular stand-outs.
Alison Goldfrapp is performing live at Kite Festival, Oxfordshire on Saturday 10 June. Tickets available here.
