Believe in Magic is the latest BBC Studios podcast series from Jamie Bartlett (of Missing Crypto Queen fame). It’s a surprisingly dark tale of charity fundraising, One Direction, and a mysterious death. The series centres around a mother, Jean, and her daughter Megan who sets up a charity for sick children called Believe in Magic. When Megan reveals that she is battling a brain tumour herself, doubts are raised about the charity’s legitimacy. The investigation explores the dark side of celebrity obsession, familial control, deceit and the nature of illness itself. It’s a highly bingeable series that, like Crypto Queen, leaves just enough questions unanswered.
