Fully-formed policy ideas usually emerge after a few thoughtful years on the Opposition benches. Conservatives, overwhelmed by trying to deliver Brexit, seem to be lacking the vision or vitality for that, or anything else.
At our Festival of ThinkIns, we asked what the Tories needed to do to find fresh direction. The conversation revealed intense frustration with the party’s maddening introspection; and a surprisingly resilient conviction that (if the party would only look out of the window) it would still see a wealth of political opportunity and civic challenge.
